Ophthalmic Emergencies
28 April 2020
The following conditions are considered ophthalmic emergencies:
• Eye Trauma
• Retinal detachment
• Retinopathy of Prematurity
• Scratches
• Objects in the eye
• Burns
• Exposure to chemicals, and blunt injuries to the eye or eyelid.
• Certain eye infections and other conditions, such as blood clots, may need immediate medical attention.
• glaucoma
Since the eye is easily injured, any of these conditions can lead to vision loss if timely and appropriate treatment is not received.
If you experience loss of vision or red eye pain, even if not caused by injury, seek immediate medical attention.
