17 August 2021
To take care of our visual health, in addition to visiting the ophthalmologist regularly, we need to develop good habits.
The eyes are the main organ of the visual system, the basis of the sense of sight. Thanks to this, we easily carry out a large part of our daily activities and, above all, we can appreciate our environment and connect with it.
This is why we need to take care, and prevent our vision from being affected, for this we give you some tips for good eye health.
USE PROTECTION WHEN PERFORMING SPORTS
When playing sports, wear appropriate protective glasses, as many eye injuries are related to these activities.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR FOOD
Foods high in vitamins C and E, zinc, Tunisian, zeaxanthin and the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA are good for our eye health, and in general. Include citrus fruits, vegetable oils, nuts, whole grains, dark-colored vegetables, and cold-water fish in your diet.
OPHTHALMOLOGICAL EXAM
Regular eye exams prevent major problems, as they can detect any abnormalities early and act to benefit your visual health.
AVOID SMOKING
Smoking increases the risk of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
WEAR PROTECTIVE GLASSES
This is a basic step to prevent injuries. Protect your eyes from exposure to sunlight, as it can increase your risk of developing cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, eye tumors, and even cancer.
AVOID VISUAL FATIGUE
The activities in front of the computer, smartphone, television and other types of digital devices for long periods, although they do not cause permanent damage, cause a lower frequency of blinking, with the consequent sensation of dry eye and tired eyes.
Following the recommendations of your ophthalmologist, having regular check-ups, and applying these tips are essential to preserve good eye vision.
